From the desk of Fr. Trinidad

“Besides the times of the year that have their own distinctive character, there remains in the yearly cycle thirty-three or thirty-four weeks in which no particular aspect of the mystery of Christ is celebrated, but rather the mystery of Christ itself  is honored in its fullness, especially on Sundays. This period is known  as Ordinary Time” (Universal Norms, 43).
As we begin Ordinary Time let us not confuse this season as the “boring time of the year” where we celebrate nothing important. Quite the contrary, Ordinary Time is the time of the liturgical year, where we put into practice all we have learned during Advent, Lent and Easter. There are also plenty of celebrations to look forward to in Ordinary time, including, “The Solemnity the Holy Trinity”, “The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ”. We will also celebrate the “Most sacred heart of Jesus”, the “Immaculate Heart of Mary”, The “Nativity of John the Baptist”, “Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles”, and my persona favorite, “The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary”, and many more. As we begin the season of  Ordinary Time, I encourage all the faithful to look forward to these awesome celebrations where we can continue to experience God’s love and mercy and the power of the resurrection.
Pax et bonum
Fr. Trinidad

 P. Trinidad
