It seems that the summer is coming to end, or at least, the break, before the academic semester starts again, in just a few short weeks. I hope that the summer break has been good, as well as an opportunity to rest and reflect on the many gifts God has given us. This weekend the scripture readings invite us to reflect on God's abundance that surrounds us; in our particular family as well as our parish faith family. If you'd like to take a "homework assignment" for this week re-read the Gospel (John 6:1-15). In the midst of this abundance though we sometimes wonder if we will have enough and if we are, in fact, equipped to share the "good news." All we have to do is look at the biblical characters, particularly the apostles, who were closest to Jesus. They all came to understand that they were totally dependent on Jesus for their ministry. So are we! I'd invite us to consider, identify and name just a few of the things that we are grateful for and then to share this good news with others!
Peace,
Fr. Ray
