State of the Parish Address

1/30/2015

Hello, friends:

This weekend I’m offering what I hope to be a “snapshot” of parish life in what I’m calling the State of the Parish address. Just as the president, governor and city mayor do in their address, we will be focusing our attention on the various relationships that make up our faith community. The structure of the presentation will be framed with the following three categories: miracles, milestones and mission. Stay tuned!

The United in Ministry appeal is upon us, again! This year the campaign is entitled, “Where will you take your place in proclaiming the Good News” and again I’m asking that when you consider making a pledge that you think of our retired priests, particularly, Fr. John Tickle and our seminarians. This year our parish goal is just about $56,000. I’d ask you to please prayerfully consider making a pledge, in the name of Fr. Tickle or any of our Diocesan seminarians: Alex, Alonso, Gino, Ivan, Jeff, or Ruben.

Blessings!
Fr. Ray

Campus Ministry- Fostering A Home Away From Home

Hello Newman parishioners,

Mona Chip, Associate Campus Minister, here! I am pleased to have the opportunity to guest author this week. Thank you so much for your warm response to our Student Ministry Leadership Team after the Masses last weekend. It may have partially been the lure of cookies– but I was so encouraged to see your interest and support of Campus Ministry. Leaving home to come to college can be challenging, with new freedoms and corresponding responsibilities. Our hope is that Newman Center can be a home away from home for students while at college, that Campus Ministry can foster a welcoming, supportive community where young Catholics can grow spiritually, intellectually, socially and emotionally. Please continue to keep NMSU and DACC students, staff, and faculty in your prayer as they begin this new semester!

Welcome Back, NMSU Community!

Dear friends:

On behalf of the parish staff, I’d like to welcome students, faculty and staff for the 2015 spring semester! If you’re new to our community, we hope that you find a home here with us, and if you’re returning, welcome back!

The staff, in collaboration with the parish pastoral council, finance council and visioning committees, has been busy at work preparing for the new semester; specifically looking at various projects that will happen in the next several months.

Next weekend, I’m planning to offer what I’m calling a “State of the Parish address” similar to what the president, governor and mayor do annually.

Please stay tuned!

Good News of Adult Faith Formation

Dear friends,

Happy New Year! Last week you read from seminarian Jeff, who’s now living and working at St. Gen’s parish with Fr. Rogelio.
Please keep Jeff in your prayers as he begins a new chapter in his faith journey. Over the Christmas break we also saw Deacon Alex, and seminarians Ivan and Ruben. They have all returned to seminary for their spring semester and would certainly appreciate our support and prayers.

I’d like to share good news with the parish community. Just before Christmas I invited a small group of folks to chat and brainstorm around the idea of adult faith formation and how best we can create a comprehensive parish plan. The group is now in the process of creating a mission statement as a way to help frame the goals and objectives of this initiative. This process is obviously a step in the right direction but will take time and energy to discern and implement.

As we begin a new year, please pray for the work of our parish community, that we might truly be disciples of the
Lord Jesus! I will pray for each of you and ask for your prayers!

Fr. Ray

Hello friends at St. Albert’s and happy New Year!

This is Jeff the seminarian filling in for Fr. Ray this week. I am writing to inform you all that I will be leaving this parish and moving to St. Genevieve’s on January 5th and will no longer be serving this wonderful community. The amount of love and care that you have given me was monumental and I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to serve this parish – especially starting out! You all have been so welcoming and caring and I could not have asked for a more wonderful community to start out in as a seminarian. I have called St. Albert’s my home for the last four and half years and came here as both a parishioner and an employee – so I have grown to love every nook and cranny of this beautiful church! I am very appreciative of Fr. Ray and the staff for putting up with me these last few months, and am also very blessed to have made so many loving and supportive friends here! I will continue to pray for all of you and hope I can come back to serve you again in the future!

Thank you all so very much!

With much love and many prayers
-Jeff
