Good News of Retreats

10/25/2015

Hello friends:

Last weekend Mary Ellen, from CARA (Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate) gave two presentations (on Saturday to the parish leadership and Sunday to the parish at large). Her report was very positive and affirming for our faith community. In the next several weeks we will be sharing this good news; it will be posted on the parish website and in other creative ways! Special thanks to the parish pastoral council for your work and to Scott Witt, who worked closely with Mary Ellen over the last several months.

Please keep the university students in prayer as they attend the Aggie Awakening retreat this weekend. As you might imagine, this is a wonderful and powerful encounter with the Lord and can be life changing.

Also, if you can pray for the men that will be attending the Diocesan Vocation Discernment next weekend at the San Patricio Retreat Center, your prayers are very powerful! This retreat has been very successful in the last several years, especially for the men who are attending NMSU and considering a vocation to the priesthood.

Fr. Alex's Mass of Thanksgiving

10/18/2015

Dear Friends,

A couple weekends ago I announced that I was going to my home town, Totatiche, Jalisco to say my "Thanksgiving Mass." On October 6, I had the privilege to celebrated my "Canta Misa" (Thanksgiving Mass) there, with my family and friends. It was a beautiful celebration on the vespers of the celebration of Our Lady of Rosary. That day I had about fifteen priests that accompanied me in thanksgiving for this beautiful gift/calling to the priesthood. Many friends and family members from the States had the opportunity also to be part of this too. I am very thankful to God for granting me this opportunity to go back home to the land that saw me grow. After a few days of celebration and self-care, I am glad to be back in my parish to serve you all.

Dear, friends:

A special thanks to everyone who helped with this year’s parish BBQ! The mass and the food were great, even though the rains may have kept some folks away, a good time was had by those who were able to be present. Congrats to the winners of the raffle as well as the bidders for the Paella and Pizza dinners. Fr. Alex, Frankie and I will be busy cooking and hosting!

Campus ministry will be hosting a Mass under the Stars at White Sands this Friday. More additional info, please check out Sal’s message.

Welcome back to Fr. Alex! I’m sure he had a beautiful mass of thanksgiving in his hometown of Totatiche, Jalisco.

October, The Month of Mary

10/4/2015

Dear friends,

The month of October is already here. This month is dedicated to the Queen of heaven and earth, the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the advocacy of Our Lady of the Rosary. So this is the month of the Most Holy Rosary. I would encourage all to consider this beautiful prayer of the Rosary as a means to draw closer to Jesus and Mary by meditating on the great mysteries of our salvation.

Along with the tradition of the month of Mary, I will be taking a short trip to my home town in Mexico, Totatiche, Jalisco. The patronage of my town is Our Lady of the Rosary which is celebrated I'm taking this opportunity to say my "Thanksgiving Mass" with family and friends from there. While I am gone, I will ask you of your prayers for safety. I will leave you in good hands of our pastor Fr. Ray!
