    Hello friends!

It's been such a blessing and a joy to serve the St. Albert the Great Newman parish community this past year. You have taught me a lot! I have no words how to thank you for all you have done for me. It was a blessing for me to begin my journey as a priest in this beautiful community. And since I am under obedience to Bishop Oscar Cantu, he has entrusted me to the care of four communities starting in July: Cloudcroft (Sacred Heart), La Luz (Our Lady of the Light), Tularosa (St. Francis de Padua), and Bent (Our Lady of Guadalupe).

This is my last weekend serving at Newman. Now is time for me to make my transition to my new place. Thank you all again for all your care and love towards me. I want you to know that you still have this friend and priest up in the mountains. If one day you are heading in that direction, please feel free to stop by and say hi. May God bless you all!

    Hello, friends!

This past week a group from our parish participated in the CMLI (Campus ministry leadership institute) which is sponsored by the USCCB. The gathering is an opportunity for students to grow in leadership, networking and relationship, with each other and the wider church.

Our student team did an outstanding job of creating a brand new student led, peer to peer, relational project that's called Solmates. Ill let the student team tell you more about the details as they share the good news later in the summer.

Sal and Steven were both on the leadership or directing team and they too did a terrific job. Join me in celebrating and congratulating the hard work of our young leaders; thank you for your dedication and commitment to sharing the good news! A great big thank you to the VBS team for your hard work! I'm sure that the participants had a great learning experience and in their name is like to say thanks!

    Dear friends,

I didn't come to be served, but to serve. (Matthew 20:28) As I take my first steps toward priesthood, I feel the support of new friends. My first week being here at St. Albert has been great. I come from a little town in New Mexico called Lovington. I love to be with farm animals and horseback riding. One of my talents is playing sports. I play football, basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, volleyball, and everything with a ball.

As I spend my summer here, I hope to share stories, play together, and have great laughs together. We need to walk together with our brothers and sisters in the presence of God. Let's all accompany Jesus as the Gospel tells us. Please don't forget to pray for priest and seminarians.

    Seminarian,
    Tito

    Dear friends,

Around the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, there were key days that made it more meaningful. On Friday May 27, our new seminarian Alfredo Jaras (AKA Tito) arrived to our parish. He is originally from Zacatecas, Zac, Mexico. He has lived in California and in Lovington, New Mexico. He is the oldest of three. This summer he will be living with Fr. Ray, Franky, and I. After the summer he and Franky will leave to San Antonio, Texas to do their philosophical studies at Assumption Seminary.

On Monday May 30, it was my first year anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I presided at the 10:00 am mass at which friends, family, and some priests attended. It was a beautiful celebration. During the celebration the ACTS women (my "spiritual madrinas") gave me a beautiful chasuble. After that we had a small gathering at the rectory to continue with the joy of this celebration. Thank you all who made this day more special for me.
