Fifth Sunday of Easter

From the desk of Fr. Trinidad

This past Tuesday as I was praying the office of readings, I came across an ancient sermon by Saint Peter                     Chrysologus. The sermon not only reminded me of the Lord’s passion and resurrection, but above all, it lifted my              spirits as I reflected on the meaning and purpose of Easter. Many times in life, we get distracted by our limitations,                    our struggles and our sins. We end up disregarding God’s infinite love for humanity, to the point, that we even                  become afraid of approaching God as our loving father.

Listen to what St. Peter Chrysologus says, “Listen to the Lord’s appeal: You may run away from Me as the Lord, but why          not run to Me as your Father? Perhaps you are filled with shame for causing My bitter passion. Do not be afraid.                        This   cross inflicts a mortal injury, not on Me, but on death…. My body was stretched on the cross as a symbol, not of              how much I suffered, but of My all-embracing love…. Come, then, return to Me and learn to know Me as your Father,                who repays good for evil, love for injury, and boundless charity for piercing wounds”.

As we continue our Easter season, let us not forget what Christ has done for us. We will never be able to                           comprehend God’s love for humanity. Hopefully, with God’s help, we can accept God’s love and be transformed into a              new creation, transmitting this faith to our children, especially those who will be receiving their first                                communion throughout the diocese and around the world.

No temáis.

 Fr. Trinidad
