Last weekend I had the opportunity to accompany the Confirmation class on their retreat. It was a mountain top experience. That particular Sunday we heard about Abraham's faith being tested at Mt. Moriah. The gospel was about Jesus' transfiguration. So in a way these young men and women had two challenges: being tested and being transformed.
It was such a wonderful experience for all of them to get out of their routine and to spend time meditating about who we are and about our calling to truly be disciples of the Lord. Thank you all for your prayers.
I want to talk about the Bishop's Annual Appeal- United in Ministry (UIM). UIM helps many different ministries throughout the diocese; such as: Religious Education, Youth Ministry, Catholic Schools, education for Priests, Deacons, and Seminarians', just to mention a few. Every parish in the diocese has a goal to meet. Our goal in 2017 was $92,998.48 (193 families donated) and this year's goal is $89,262.22. If we come together as a community we can make it easier to reach our goal instead of putting the burden on only those families that have committed to help. Remember that any help that you give makes a difference. I pray that God gives you the wisdom and discernment to help us reach our goal.
