Hello, friends: 

Monday begins the new school year for those students who attend public school. A special word of welcome to you! Also, to the parents and teachers of these children, a blessing to all of you, as a new academic semester begins. May it be filled with the richness of God’s blessings! I’m also aware that some of our recent high school grads will be off to university and colleges away from home. We also offer blessings for them as they prepare for a new kind of adventure. 


The Campus Ministry student leadership team will be on retreat this week, along with Mona and Sal. Please keep them in prayer as they plan, pray and prepare for a new semester. 


All of our seminarians are also heading off to seminary. We have a total of 6 seminarians, so far. They are: Gino Wilcox, Ivan Torres, Jeffrey Jasek, Frankie Rios, Patrick Montgomery and Francis Gyau. We have a few more men who are actively discerning the possibility of a priestly vocation. Thanks to all of you who have already made a pledge to our United in Ministry appeal this year and for those who have not already made one, please consider making a pledge in the name of our seminarians.

Hello, friends: 

Please join me in welcoming our new priest, Fr. Alex, to our family! Fr. Alex was ordained, along with Fr. Alonso, on May 30, 2015, at our cathedral. As some of you might know, he was then asked by Bishop Cantu to cover the parishes in the Tularosa /Cloudcroft area for the summer months, while their pastor, Fr. Chris Williams was away. He has done quite well in the last couple of months and looks forward to beginning his time with us. Fr. Alex will be a wonderful addition to our parish staff. 

The parish staff will be on a day of enrichment, staff development, on Friday, August 7, at the Holy Cross Retreat Center. The parish office will be closed that day and mass will not be offered that day! Please keep us in prayer as we plan, pray and prepare for the upcoming fall semester. 

Also, the campus ministry leadership team will be on a week-long retreat experience, beginning on Sunday, August 9th and concluding on Thursday, August 13th . They will be over at the San Patricio retreat center, located in the Hondo valley. Please keep them in prayer as they too plan, pray and prepare for the new school year.
