Dear Newman Community, Each semester we host an Aggie Awakening retreat, a weekend retreat of prayer, community, and Sacraments put on by students for students. Once a student ‘lives’ Awakening, they are eligible to serve as staff for upcoming retreats to make the experience available to other students. The weekend is a labor of love given generously by the staff. In the weeks leading up to the retreat staff put in countless hours preparing for the weekend. The hope is that students are ‘awakened’ by the weekend and continue their faith journey in a renewed way. This past weekend we put on Aggie Awakening IX. Nearly 50 students participated in the retreat, either as retreatants or staff. From our opening dinner in the parish hall it was obvious the group was an especially enthusiastic and outgoing one. This proved to be so true! Please keep the group in prayer as they come down from their “mountain top experience,” as Fr. Ray called it, and settle back into their lives, that they would take with them some seed that was planted over the retreat weekend. Peace, Mona |

Greetings!
Kudos to the Oktoberfest committee for all their efforts in making the fiesta an enjoyable and successful event! Our contribution was providing the brats, dogs, and burgers, and we were busy! As we welcome the Fall season, we are looking forward to some of our marquee events: · Aggie Awakening 9 is scheduled for October 21-23 at Holy Cross Retreat Center. The Awakening staff is busy preparing for this great retreat experience. If you know of a student, or are a student interested in attending the retreat, send an email to Luigi at nmsucatholiccampusministry@gmail to get registered. · Pie Sales! It’s never too early to be thinking about some delicious Pecan, Apple, Cran-Apple and Pumpkin Pies. We will take orders on November 11 & 12 and will have pies ready on the 18 & 19th. · Full Moon Mass at White Sands is set for Sunday, October 16th. Folks interested in car pooling are invited to meet at Newman at 3:30 pm. We will celebrate Mass on the dunes in the Primrose picnic area at 7:30 pm. All are invited to come out to praise and worship God in the splendor of the dunes! For more info, email me at [email protected]. Peace, Sal
