building and Handing on the Faith

Results of Vote on Building Options

Presented at Masses August 8-9, 2015
The Visioning Committee would like to thank all of you for your support and input.  We were asked by Fr. Ray to engage you, St. Albert parish members, in discussion about the parish facility needs.  We began this process last year by researching previous needs assessments; holding listening sessions; presenting results of the listening sessions; presenting answers to the questions received and lastly providing options and phasing for you to select.  We are here before you today to give you the results of the recent vote on building options.

    1.    Number of responses received: 643

    2.    Results of vote on building options were:
    315 Chose Option # 1
    215 Chose Option # 2
    53 Chose Option #3

    3.    Preferred Phasing was as follows:
    a.     Phase 1 (Newman Center), 2 (Administration/classrooms), 3 (Church)  4 (Parish Hall) in that order
We would like to remind you that the phased approach will allow for the following:
    ·       To be able to use funds as they become available
    ·       To leverage grant funding for certain parts of the projects (Newman Center)
    ·       To allow us to continue to use the existing facility while the other phases are being built (with some minor modifications)

    4.    Next Steps
    a.    Seek proposal for architect
    b.    Feasibility study
    c.    Diocesan approval
    d.    Fundraising (concurrent with design of Phase I and Phase II)
    e.    Design
    f.     Construction (as design is completed and funding becomes available)

    5.    Estimated Timeline
    a.    Architect request for Proposal- Begin September 2015
    b.    Feasibility study- Submission to Diocese by December 2015
    c.    Fundraising begins- September 2015
    d.    Design complete- 3rd quarter of 2016
    e.    Construction could begin early 2017

There are many steps left to complete this process.  All comments received will be incorporated into the design process. We will continue to keep you updated as we move forward in this process. Again, thank you and God Bless you all.
