Religious Education (1st - 5th Grade)
Children's faith education starts at the very beginning, in your homes with parents sharing our faith heritage. At St. Albert Newman Parish we work to continue that education in a dynamic way by welcoming all young people to prepare for and celebrate the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
SACRAMENTS:
Sacrament of First Reconciliation (Sacrament of Penance) (Confession)
Preparation for this sacrament starts in the 1st grade curriculum and immediate preparation begins in the fall of grade 2. The First Reconciliation celebration is traditionally celebrated in the Spring.
Sacrament of First Eucharist (Holy Communion)
First Communion preparation is a two year commitment that starts in grade 1 and immediate preparation begins in grade 2 . The celebration of First Eucharist is traditionally celebrated in the Spring. Students must have made their First Reconciliation prior to entering First Communion.

ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO BECOME A CATECHIST?
As Catholics, our call is to be stewards of the gifts given to us by God and to use those gifts to benefit all. St. Albert's relies heavily on the stewardship of many parishioners. We have several opportunities to share the Catholic faith with the children of St. Albert Newman:
Why become a catechist?
- The best way to learn about the Catholic faith is to teach.
- Your own faith will come alive.
- You assist in bringing Christ to children.
- You show your own family that you value the Catholic faith.
- You become a role model to children.
- You bring joy!
