Permanent Parishioners

Get Involved!

Permanent Parishioners at St. Albert the Great Newman Center are a cornerstone of our vibrant Catholic community, serving in a unique and essential role: supporting and accompanying the students of New Mexico State University on their journey of faith.

As a ministry focused on “Discipleship Rooted in Christ, Grown on Campus,” our mission is to lead university students to Christ through authentic friendship and spiritual growth. We envision a generation of lifelong disciples, transformed by a personal encounter with Jesus and committed to a life centered on the Sacraments.

Permanent Parishioners live this mission by fostering a culture of evangelization, hospitality, and service—building bridges across generations and walking with students as mentors, prayer partners, and fellow disciples. Inspired by our patron, St. Albert the Great—scholar, teacher, and faithful servant—we strive to be a community emboldened by grace and alive with joy.

Explore the opportunities below to get involved and help form the next generation of Catholic leaders.

Called to Serve?

Permanent Parishioners at St. Albert the Great Newman Center hold a special and vital role in our parish community—their primary mission is to support the students of NMSU and our Catholic campus ministry.

If you feel called to walk with and serve the next generation of disciples, explore the volunteer opportunities below and discover how you can make a difference in the lives of our students!

Adopt an Aggie

The Adopt an Aggie program at St. Albert the Great Newman Center is a unique ministry that pairs Permanent Parishioner families with NMSU students who are in need of financial support to participate in transformative faith experiences, such as retreats, conferences, mission trips, and pilgrimages.

Through your generosity, you can help remove financial barriers and give students the opportunity to encounter Christ, grow in discipleship, and set out on a lifelong journey of faith. It’s more than a donation—it’s an investment in the spiritual future of a young person, empowering them to seek God early in life and build their foundation in Him.

OCIA – Help Lead Others to the Faith

Do you feel called to walk alongside others as they explore the Catholic faith? We are looking for small group leaders to serve in our Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) program at St. Albert the Great Newman Center.

Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00–9:00 PM, and leaders play a vital role in guiding and supporting participants on their journey toward full communion with the Church.

If you're interested in serving in this meaningful ministry, please contact Patty Carrasco at pcarrasco@stalbertnewmancenter.org.

Marriage Preparation Ministry

St. Albert the Great Newman Center offers meaningful ways for married couples to support those preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage through our Fully Engaged marriage preparation program.

You can help by meeting one-on-one with an engaged couple in your home to walk through the Fully Engaged workbook together, sharing your experiences and offering guidance rooted in faith and love.

If you and your spouse feel called to accompany engaged couples on this important journey, we’d love to have you join the ministry. Couples must be married to serve.

To get involved, please contact Fr. Mau at mbermudez@rcdlc.org.
