ST ALBERT THE GREAT NEWMAN PARISH

Pastoral Council Meeting August 14, 2018 at 6:30PM

 

SUMMARY NOTES

 

  

 

Present:       Fr. Alex, P. Browne (Chairperson), H. Davis, R. Higgs,  

                     C. Logan, A. Price

 

Absent:        J.del Castillo, A. Doinquez, E. Paredes, E. Pfeifer

              

Overview:   Paul called the meeting to order.   R. Higgs provided the

                     prayer.

                  

                     Richard moved that the Summary Notes in conjunction with the

                     July 17 meeting be approved; Anna seconded, Notes were

                     unanimously approved.

 

New Business:

        

 1 )   Additional Sunday Mass Fr. Alex reported that the Lectionary         materials for the Spanish Mass have been ordered.  These   

        include: Book of the Gospel, Lectionary for Sundays,

        Lectionary for weekdays, and Lectionary for especial days

        (feasts, Solemnities, etc.)  He is working on identifying

         musicians.  He will announce on the 3rd Sunday in October that    

         the  8:30am Mass will start at 8:am.

 

2)       “Add information to the Church Registration form that we need

       additional Parish Council members, and provide a space for  

       them to sign up”- Paul offered this suggestion.  Following

       discussion it was agreed that we will revisit Council member

        recruitment in the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Old Business:

    

1)       Goals/Research Status- Hiram distributed a letter Fr. Alex

       requesting the Pastoral Council, on behalf of the Finance    

       Council, to initiate a strategic planning process on behalf of the   

       church.   He reported that following the July meeting he,

       Elizabeth Marrufo and Sue Padilla met and discussed the

       formation of a Core Strategic Planning Team  (SPT) to initiate

       the strategic planning process.  He distributed a draft timeline

       and the core members who have agreed to be a part of the team.

                           ● Initial meeting has been scheduled for August 23rd

                           ● Process to accomplished by the end of the year.     

 

2)       New Church Registration Anna and Christine have continued

       to work with Isabel regarding the registration process.  They

       distributed a revised/final copy of the St. Albert the Great  

       Newman Parish Registration Form.  The Council endorsed the

       form.   In addition, the Council agreed to the proposed Bulletin

       inserts, i.e. 1) “What does being a member of St. Albert

       Newman Parish mean for you?” “Your Parish Need You!” and   

       two “2018 Parish Census.

       

            ● Anna begin signing up names to assist at Masses in

               conjunction with the registration process. It was agreed that

               we should work in pairs.

 

            ● She will send out the form with names and Mass times.

 

  

Next Meeting-  Has been scheduled for September 5 at 6:30pm at the Bridge.
